MNS legislator booked for assault
Mumbai, Jan 18 (PTI) Police today booked MaharashtraNavnirman Sena (MNS) MLA Ram Kadam for allegedly assaulting aRationing Officer at suburban Ghatkopar.
According to police, Kadam had yesterday organised ameeting of the residents of Pantnagar, in his constituencyGhatkopar, in the ration office to find out the problems beingfaced by the locals.
During the meeting, Kadam felt Rationing OfficerPrakash Pagote was evading questions. An enraged Kadam slappedhim. Pagote was also punched allegedly by the lawmaker''sbodyguards, they said.
"We have registered a case against Kadam and his bodyguards and investigating the case," said S Shintre, DeputyCommissioner of Police.
Kadam and his bodyguards were booked under IPCSections 353 (Assault or criminal force to deter publicservant from discharge of his duty), 504 (intentional insultwith intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 506 (criminalintimidation).
