KMC no to tax waiver proposal of Kolkata Book fair

Kolkata (WB), Jan 19 (PTI) The Kolkata MunicipalCorporation today turned down the proposals for tax waiverduring Kolkata Book Fair.

"The organisers of Kolkata Book Fair will do businessthere. They have to pay water tax, garbage removal fee andtrade licence fees," mayor of Kolkata Sovan Chatterjee said.

Secretary of Publishers and Book Sellers Guild TridibChatterjee today met mayor to appeal for waiver of the taxes.

Meanwhile, mayor said they have been considering towaive amusement tax but no decision has been reached yet.

Twelve-day Kolkata Book Fair will begin on 26 January.
