Himachal to sell onion at Rs 40/kg through PDS
Shimla, Jan 18 (PTI) With onion prices staying at Rs 60per kg, the state government today decided to supply thevegetable at Rs 40 per Kg through the Public distributionSystem (PDS).
The sale of onions at subsidised rate would be restrictedto 2-Kg per ration card.
Himachal Pradesh State Civil Supplies Corporation MDDiljeet Singh Dogra said that the Corporation has started saleof onions at Rs 40 per kg through its wide network of Fairprice shops in the district headquarters of Solan, Shimla,Mandi, Dharamsala and Hamirpur.
The sale of subsidised onions would commence fromtomorrow in retail outlets of the Corporation at Kasumpti,Chhota Shimla, Brockhurst and Sanjauli.
The government had earlier entered into an agreement withNAFED for supply of onions at Rs 40 per kg, but the planfailed to mature and cheaper onion were not available in themarket.
