HC suspends order setting up Koyambedu market management panel
Chennai, Jan 18 (PTI) The Madras High Court today orderedinterim suspension of a Jan 7 order of the Tamil Nadu Housingand Urban Development Department this year constituting afresh Market Management Committee for the Koyambedu WholesaleMarket Complex.
The court also dispensed with the personal appearance oftop officials in a contempt case relating to constitution ofthe market management committee.
A Division Bench comprising Justice Elipe Dharma Rao andJustice D.Hariparanthaman passed the order on a contemptpetition filed by the Dr.Ambedkar Sumaithukkum ThozhilalarNala Sangam, represented by its president, P.A.Joseph.
The association sought punishment to Ashok Dongre,Secretary, Housing and Urban Development Department, AshokVardhan Shetty, Secretary, Municipal Administration andDayanand Kataria, Member-Secretary, CMDA, for contempt ofcourt by allegedly violating March 22 last orders.
The court had said the authorities should dispose of thepetitioner�s representation within four weeks following a writpetition filed by it seeking a direction to the authorities tobifurcate the market area of the complex and consequentlyrestrain them from continuing the same Market ManagementCommittee or appointing fresh committee members till thebifurcation was carried out.
The Bench posted the matter for further hearing after fourweeks.
