Five Maoists arrested

Medininagar (Jharkhand), Jan 19 (PTI) Five hard-core CPI(Maoists), including a sub-zonal commander, were arrested fromDiwan Bigha village in Palamu district today.

The arrests were made when the Maoists were going on afour-wheeler to execute a plan but were intecepted by thepolice, DIG (Palamu) Laxman Prasad Singh and policeSuperintendent Anup T Mathew said.

They told newsmen that the arrested Maoists wereidentified as Satender Yadav alias Boss Ji, a sub-zonalcommander, Upendra Yadav, Manoj Singh, Vaidhyanath Yadav andSheomurat Choudhury.

The Maoists were involved in various Naxal incidents andsatender, who was active in Aurangabad (Bihar) and Palamudistrict of Jharkhand, was the main accused in blowing up offive primary school buildings on 18th December,2009 in Piprain Palamu and attack on security personnel during Assemblyelection last year.

Police has seized one pistol, a regular rifle, livecartridges, three mobile phones, a four-wheeler and Rs12760/-cash from their possession, they added.
