First car festival in 88 yrs at renowned temple tomorrow
Thanjavur, Jan 18 (PTI) Hundreds of devotees areexpected to take part in the first temple car festival to beheld at the Thiruvidaimarudhur Sri Mahalinga Swamy Temple in88 years that is all set to begin tomorrow.
One of the trustees of the temple, located 55 km fromhere, said they have arranged meals for more than 10,000devotees. The towers of the temple have been decorated withlights and two hundred policemen will be deployed to maintainorder, he said.
The car festival has not been held at the temple since1923 as all five of its cars needed repair. The temple hadbeen organising processions of all the ''Panchamurthis'' byemploying hundreds of men.
Ahead of this year''s Thai Poosam festival however, thetemple fixed its cars.
