Contradictions are manifest in utterances of BJP: Manish Tiwari
New Delhi, Jan 19 (ANI): Slamming Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Congress party spokesperson Manish Tiwari has said that contradictions are manifested in utterances of BJP.
Addressing media here on Tuesday, Tiwari said that BJP's utterances smack political opportunism.
"The contradictions are manifest in utterances of the BJP. On one hand you accuse the Congress of lowering the dignity of institutions. You make a comparison between the CAG (Comptroller and Auditor General) and CVC (Central Vigilance Commission), on the other hand, you are continuously commenting about a matter, which is pending adjudication before the Supreme Court," he said.
"On the third hand, when you are asked about the 60 crore land which you have taken for 1 rupee in Madhya Pradesh, then you say that the matter is pending in the Supreme Court. There has to be a consistency in your utterances," he added.
Tiwari further said that though BJP is not a responsible opposition yet if it considers itself the same then it should try to hold its horses.
"The BJP, if at all it considers itself a responsible opposition, which certainly it is not, should try and hold its horses," he added.
However, laying the onus on BJP, Tiwari said that the decontrolling mechanism was mooted by the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
"The proposal to dismantle the administrated price mechanism actually did not emanate out of a UPA government. If you recall, it was a NDA government, which had dismantled the administrated price mechanism. Today if more flexibility has been given to oil companies to bring about adjustments it is essentially responding to a situation, whereby you import 80 percent of the oil that you consume," said Tiwari.
