Cold conditions continue unabated in Punjab and Haryana

Chandigarh, Jan 19 (PTI) The ongoing icy cold conditionscontinued unabated in Punjab and Haryana with the minimumtemperature hovering between one to four degrees Celsiusbelow normal in the region.

Amritsar continued to be coldest place in the region with alow of two degrees Celsius, which was two notches belownormal, the MeT office said here today.

Besides, Patiala in Punjab also braved a low of two degreesCelsius, which was four notches below normal.

While Karnal settled at a low of four degrees Celsius,three notches below normal, the minimum temperature at Narnaulwas 4.2 degrees Celsius, one notch below normal.

Among other places, Hisar and Rohtak shivered at anidentical low of 5.1 degrees Celsius, one notch each belownormal, followed by 5.2 degrees Celsius at Bhiwani, 5.5degrees Celsius at Gurgaon and 6.5 degrees Celsius at Ambala.

Chandigarh settled at a low of five degrees Celsius, whichwas one notch below normal.

Besides Rohtak, several parts of the region, includingAmritsar, Ambala, Ludhiana, Patiala and Bathinda had mist.

While Rohtak was blinded by a thick blanket of fogreducing visibility by a few metres.

The MeT forecast ground frost with dry weather in theregion during the next two days.
