Businessman beaten by mob for molesting Russian woman in Goa

Panaji, Jan 18 (PTI) A 49-year-old Indian businessman wasbeaten up by a mob on Calangute beach when he allegedlymolested a Russian woman in the sea water late this evening,police said.

Police Sub Inspector Laxi Amonkar said the 25-year-oldvictim has lodged a complaint with Calangute police thatPrakash Chand, a businessman from Bhopal, molested her whileshe was bathing.

The accused, who was bathing alongside the victim,allegedly tried to touch her private parts and caused herinjury, he said.

The victim, who arrived in the state with a group ofRussians for holidaying, further claimed that the accusedbroke her sun glasses when she resisted him, police said.

"The victim raised an alarm after which the accused wasbeaten up by people present at the beach," Amonkar said addingthat the accused, who has been sent for medical examination,would be placed under arrest later tonight.
