Three arrested for arms smuggling

Patna, Jan 18 (PTI) Three persons were arrested today onthe charge of smuggling arms at Gulzarbagh locality in thestate capital here.

On a specific information that arms smugglers were on theway to deliver the firearms, the district police cordoned offthe area and took into custody three persons travelling in atempo with a bag containing firearms and sedatives.

Senior superintendent of police B S Meena said they wereidentified as Rakes Paswan, Jitendra Paswan and Sunni Kumar.

They are residents of Purandarpur and Kamlanehru Nagarlocalities of the state capital.

He said one country-made rifle, 10 country-made pistolsand sedatives including morphine were seized from theirpossession.

Similarly a group of persons engaged in selling items toforeign tourists to places like Rajgir , Pawapuri, Bodhgaya,Deoghar, Ranchi and Patna by terming the items having antiquevalue were also arrested from Gandhi Maidan here, Meena said.
