Six persons being questioned in corporator murder case

Bangalore, Jan 17 (PTI): Six persons are being questionedin connection with the murder of JDS Corporator,Diwan Ali atBanashankari area of the city yesterday.

"Six persons who were on the spot when the murder tookplace are being questioned and information and furtherdetails being sought from them ", Sonia Narang, DCP, SouthDivision told PTI.

However, no arrests have been made so far, she said.

Ali, who had 36 cases pending against him includingattempt to murder, kidnapping, causing grievous injury, waschased and hacked and shot to death yesterday by a group ofunidentified persons.

Ali who had been out on bail was suspected to be havebeen attacked by his old rivals.

Though Ali, who was out on bail, had been provided policeprotection for a brief while, it was withdrawn at his request.

The corporator, a rowdy sheeter and former autorickshawdriver, had conspired to eliminate his rival. He was alsoallegedly involved in the murder of his former associates.

Police were probing the old rivalry angle into the murderand gathering all information on the issue, police sourcessaid.
