Shillong records season''s coldest day

Shillong, Jan 18 (PTI) The Meghalaya capital witnessedthe coldest night of this winter with mercury plummeting to0.8 degree Celsius.

The maximum temperature recorded in the hill city was13.4 degree Celsius, MeT officials said.

Rainfall in the past few days and effect of the westerndisturbances had led to the cold condition, Deputy DirectorGeneral of Regional Meteorological Centre H G Pathak said.

Among other major cities in the North-East, Guwahatirecorded a minimum of 8.8 deg C, while Kohima settled for 3.5deg C. Itanagar, Imphal and Aizawl recorded a low of 5.8 degC, 6.3 deg C and 8 deg C respectively.
