Sand auctioning to begin from April one
Bangalore, Jan 18 (PTI): Karnataka will introduce itsnew sand mining policy from this April one under whichthe construction material would be auctioned ending thepractice of issue of permits.
The cabinet sub-committee headed by Home Minister RAshok, constituted to suggest measures to draw the new policy,today submitted its recommendations to the cabinet meeting.
The sub-committee has suggested ten recommendations,implementation of which would lead to increase in royaltycollection from Rs 11.50 crore to about Rs 80 crore annually,Minister for Higher Education Dr V S Acharya told reportersafter the cabinet meeting.
The committee has favoured ban on sale of filter sand,he said.
