Mandela death rumours laid to rest

Cape Town, Jan 18: Mandela foundation has refuted rumours of the legendary South African being dead and said that 92-year old leader is hale and hearty.

The cyber world was flooded with rumours of Mandela's death. Coming hard at the rumours, the African National Congress (ANC), spokesperson Jackson Mthembu was quoted as saying, "The ANC strongly condemns those people or groups who are behind such false rumours, trying to create a climate of anxiety and panic in the country."

Mandela, winner of the the 1993 Nobel Peace Prize, is an iconic figure whose struggles against apartheid in South Africa ensured that the rainbow nation became a multi-racial democracy in 1994.
