Lavasa project deserves sympathetic consideration: Sule
Pune, Jan 17 (PTI) NCP MP Supriya Sule today said thecontroversial Lavasa city project deserved a "sympatheticconsideration" from the Union Environment Ministry since itinvolved a huge investment, with job potential leading todevelopment of the region.
"If such a huge investment is taking place offering jobsand if there is no opposition from the locals, this projectshould be considered sympathetically. If any mistakes haveoccurred, penalty could be imposed," she told reporters.
"There should a fine balance between development andenvironment," she added.
Sule said her party, along with other UPA allies, hasexpressed concern over the recent hike in petrol prices, andfavoured a roll back.
Noting that the government decision to hike petrol priceswas linked to fluctuations in the international prices, shesaid along with NCP, other coalition partners DMK and TMC alsohave expressed their concern over the hike, favouring a reviewto offer relief to the common man.
