Young couple dies in fire at house

Ahmedabad, Jan 16 (PTI) A young couple died aftersustaining severe burn injuries in a freak fire intheir house in New Ranip area of the city, police said today.

Victims have been identified as Kailash Rajput (21) andhis wife Jyoti (19).

According to police, Kailash was a house painter and hadstored inflammable raw materials such as turpentine andthinner in his house.

Last night, while Jyoti was cooking food on a stove, acontainer of thinner fell down, and the liquid caught fire.

Kailash tried to rescue his wife, and got burnt himself.

While his wife died on the spot, he was taken to hospitalwhere he succumbed this afternoon, police said. PTI PB
