RSP employees suggest steps for plant improvement

Rourkela, Jan 17 (PTI) A record number of 232suggestions have been received from the employees by themanagement of Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) for improvement ofthe plant.

The suggestions came under the ''Srujani CreativityScheme'' initiated by the steel plant to tap the creativepotential and enterprising spirit of the employees.

In all 212 sugestions were received in 2007-09 fromthe employees out of which 209 had already been implemented.

The plant has been able to accrue substantial one-time savingand recurring savings, RSP sources said.

Eighteen quality circle teams comprising 80 employeesof the unit had implemented their projects, while in thecurrent financial year so far quality circle projects havebeen implemented by 25 employees.

Besides, six projects taken up by 101 persons werepresented with special awards in the current year while in thecurrent year two projects implemented by 37 persons have beenawarded.

The innovative zeal of the employees reached its peakwith a team of six employees of the unit bagging theprestigious Shram Vir Award 2008, one of the highest awardsgiven to employees by the ministry of labour and employment,government of India.
