RLD to go alone in UP polls, demands creation of Harit Pradesh

Muzaffarnagar, Jan 17 (PTI) Pressing on the demand forbifurcation of Uttar Pradesh to create Harit Pradesh, RLDtoday said it will go alone in the state Assembly electionsnext year.

Rashtriya Lok Dal''s (RLD) national secretary ShahidSiddiqui said that party would contest in the upcoming UttarPradesh Assembly polls on its own supporting the issue ofseparate Harit Pradesh.

"Without creating a separate Harit state development inwestern UP would not be possible," Siddiqui said today.

Harit Pradesh is a proposed new state of India comprisingthe western parts of Uttar Pradesh state.

He alleged that the Mayawati-led BSP government in thestate had an anti-farmer policy.

RLD had a tie-up with the BJP in the last Lok SabhaAssembly elections, however the party contested alone in lastUP polls.
