Railways would not forcibly acquire land, says Subhendu
Nandigram(WB), Jan 16 (PTI) Trinamool Congress MPSubhendu Adhikary today said that the railways would notforcibly acquire any land for railway projects in Nandigramarea of Purba Midnapore district.
"The railways are offering a package which is far betterthan the compensation paid by the West Bengal government toacquire land. If the people are willing to give their land byaccepting the railway package, then only the railways wouldacquire land," Adhikary claimed at a publi meeting at Golpukurarea of here.
The TC MP claimed that most of the people are willingto give land for the railway project in the area as therailways would bring prosperity in the area.
Adhikary alleged that the CPI(M) is instigating thepeople not to give land for the railway project.
