Mahanta urges declaration of assets of ministers'' wives

Guwahati, Jan 16 (PTI) Former Assam Chief Minister,Prafulla Kumar Mahanta today urged the state government tomake it mandatory to declare the assetes of the wives andrelatives of his council of ministers.

"The Tarun Gogoi Government should also make publicthe assetes of the wives and relatives of all his ministers",the Leader of the opposition told reporters here.

Mahanta alleged that the asset declared recently bythe ministers in the Tarun Gogoi Government was far less thanwhat they accutually owned.

Reacting to the demand by Gogoi that oppositionmembers should also make public their assets, Mahanta saidall MLAs and MPs had already submitted their property listsbefore election as per norm of the Election Commision.
