Chargesheet filed against two persons in cheating case
Srinagar, Jan 17 (PTI) Crime Branch of the Jammu andKashmir Police today filed a chargesheet against two personsfor cheating people of Nubra valley of Leh district of over Rsfive crore.
The chargesheet was filed against Jarnail Singh ofChandigarh and his local accomplice Bashir Ahmad Manhas ofPoonch in a special court here, a police spokesman said.
He said the duo had floated a private financialinstitution and cheated the people of Nubra by offeringlucrative returns in 2003.
They had cheated investors to the tune of about Rs 5.20crore by taking cash deposits from them with a promise ofdoubling the amount within a period much lesser than thatprovided by different banking institutions, the spokesmansaid.
