CET for professional courses in Kerala from April 18 to 20

Thiruvananthapuram,Jan 17 (PTI):Common Entrance Examinationsfor professional courses in Kerala would be held from April 18to April 20, state education minister M A Baby said today.

Releasing the exam prospectus at a function here, he saidbasic marks of the qualifying exam would also be taken intoaccount along with entrance exam marks from this year onwardsfor admission to engineering courses.

In the case of medical courses, marks of qualifying examswould be considered from next year, Baby said.

Baby said candidates can have prospectus from select postoffices from Jan 19. The last date for receipt of applicationsat the Entrance Commissioner Office here is Feb 14, he said.

The minister said talks with Self-financing professionalinstitutions on fee structure would begin soon and added thatthe government expected to come to an agreement with moreprivate Engineering and Medical colleges.

For engineering courses, total number of seats are 33,697including 5603 seats in government coleges. A total of 2150seats are for Medicine, including 850 in government sector.

A total 1.2 lakh candidates applied for the exam last year.

This year the Exmination Commissioner Office has arranged for1.30 lakh applications.
