Cash, gold recovered in raid from PWD Engineer in MP

Bhopal, Jan 17 (PTI) Lokayukta Police recovered overRs 1.41 crore in cash and 4.8 kg gold from a locker belongingto the wife of an Executive Engineer of the Public WorksDepartment (PWD) during raids at his different premises inJabalpur division.

Acting on a tip-off, Lokayukta Police Jabalpur branchraided the official residence of PWD Executive Engineer, AshokKumar Jain, at Narsinghpur and also other premises associatedwith him at Sagar, official sources said.

When the Lokayukta team opened the locker of Jain''swife, Meena in Sagar, it contained Rs 1.41 crore in cash and4.8 kg gold amounting to over Rs 90 lakh.

Two other lockers of Jain at Sagar and Bhopal are yetto be opened, they said.

The raid was going on since yesterday at Jain''sresidence in Narsinghpur town.

From his official residence details of Rs 14 lakh cashdeposit in different banks, NSC worth Rs 95,000 and fixeddeposits worth Rs 6 lakh, Rs 6 lakh in cash and otherluxurious goods disproportionate to his known sources ofincome were also found.

Further investigations were going on, the sources added.
