Acted consistently when faced with credible charges: Cong

New Delhi, Jan 16 (PTI) Congress today claimed the moralhigh ground over the Environment ministry''s directive todemolish the scam-hit Adarsh Housing Society in Mumbai andsaid the party had always "acted" consistently whenever facedwith credible allegations.

"This is legal proceedings where the government hasacted on the basis of materials available to it. Furtheraction will be necessary subject to law.

"... It does, however, prove that once again beyonddoubt that the Congress, whenever faced with credibleallegations, has always consistently taken action," partyspokesperson Abhishek Singhvi said here.

The Environment ministry today directed the AdarshHousing Society to demolish within three months the"unauthorised" 31-storey building in upmarket Colaba forviolating coastal regulations, and restore the area in itsoriginal condition.

Singhvi, at the same time, targeted the main oppositionBJP for its criticism on the issue and said "this is in starkcontrast to our political opponents who rave and rant butconsistently practice what they do not preach".

He also accused BJP of "legitimising" corruption inKarnataka and Uttarakhand, where Chief ministers B SYeddyurappa and Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, respectively arefacing corruption charges.
