Woman falls from flyover resisting robbery bid
New Delhi, Jan 15 (PTI) A young woman tonight fell froma flyover in east Delhi while trying to resist a snatchingattempt on her by two motorcycle-borne robbers.
The incident took place at Karkari More flyover ataround 9:30 pm when the victim, Madhumita, was returning homeafter work, a senior police official said. She works in LaxmiNagar.
The woman had started walking on the flyover when shewas waylaid by the two robbers, who assaulted her. She fellfrom a height of about five to six feet and suffered someinjuries.
"The two men tried to snatch her bag. She resisted asthey tugged hard on the bag, and the handles of the bag tore.
She then fell from the flyover," the official said.
The victim was rushed to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospitalfor treatment. "She is a state of shock otherwise she isalright," the official said.
Police have erected barricades in the locality and havestarted checking motorcycles.
A case has been registered and further investigationsare on.
