Valsad: 2 dead, many injured in mishaps related to kite-flying
Valsad, Jan 16 (PTI) Two persons died, while over adozen were injured in the accidents related to kite-flyingduring Uttarayan festival in the district, police said today.
Ajay Shah, a class 11th student, died after his throatwas slit by the string of a kite, when he was riding amotorcycle yesterday. The string (manja) was glass powder-coated.
The incident took place near Dunri village. Shah''sfriend, who was riding with him, also sustained cuts on theface.
In Kocharva village near Vapi, Lalan Sinha (28) diedafter falling into a well while flying a kite.
This apart, police said there were over a dozen cases ofpeople getting injured due to sharp kite string, or fallingoff roof-tops when flying kite.
In a freak mishap in Semachan area of Valsad town, foursmall houses used to store wood caught fire after an electricwire fell onto them, police said.
The wire fell when somebody tried to yank away the kitecaught on it. All the four houses burnt down, causing a lossof Rs 24 lakh to the owner.
