Tantrik arrested for duping a senior citizen
Mumbai, Jan 15 (PTI) Police have arrested a tantrik forallegedly cheating a senior citizen of over Rs 13 lakh.
The police said that Walli-ur-Shafi-ur-Rehman Shaikhalias Baba Karim was arrested yesterday from his residence atDharavi upon a complaint filed by one Sham Kumar Shrivastav(77), resident of Malabar Hill in South Mumbai.
According to Shrivastav, he had approached Shaikh aroundOctober last year seeking treatment for his illness after hissecretary Ashish Ranade (34) saw the tantrik''s advertisementin a newspaper.
Allegedly, Shaikh didn''t give any medicines, but tookmoney from Shrivastav to cast spells'', said police inspectorRatan Burke.
Police are now finding out whether Shaikh cheated othersin the similar way.
Ranade too has been arrested as he is suspected to beShaikh''s middleman.
