Six HUJI terrorists get life term in Sachin-Saurav kidnap plot
New Delhi, Jan 15 (PTI) A Delhi court today awardedrigorous life imprisonment to six HuJI terrorists, includingthree Pakistanis, for plotting to kidnap cricketers SachinTendulkar and Saurav Ganguly in 2002.
Additional Sessions Judge Pinki sentenced all the sixconvicts to maximum life term under stringent Prevention ofTerrorism Act (POTA) saying the punishment "must send a clearmessage that India is not nor will it become a safe haven forterrorists".
The court accepted the Delhi police''s plea to award themaximum sentence to them under the POTA for plotting to kidnapthe cricketers.
The terrorists had also planned to attack Bhabha AtomicResearch Centre in Mumbai and assassinate former President A PJ Abdul Kalam. (More) PTI ATP SJK AAC ABA
