SC can bring back black money stashed abroad: Advani
New Delhi, Jan 16 (PTI) Senior BJP leader L K Advanitoday pinned all his hopes on the Supreme Court to bring backblack money stashed in foreign countries and said it will earnthe apex court "lasting gratitude" of the people.
"The country expects the Supreme Court to pursue thismatter to its logical end. USD 462 billion is a huge amount..
which is wealth that can bring about a miraculousmetamorphosis in Indian conditions," Advani said referring tothe recent admonishment of the apex court to the governmentfor not disclosing the names of people whose money is stashedabroad.
In his latest blog posting, the BJP veteran said bypursuing the matter, the Supreme Court will "earn the lastinggratitude of the Indian people by forcing Government to bringback all this wealth."
Hoping that the apex court will take steps to bringback the black money, he appreciated the role of the judiciaryduring Emergency and said it was the only institution whichshowed "guts" against the Indira Gandhi Government.
"When in the seventies, democracy became imperilled,Parliament let down the people. So did the media. It was onlythe judiciary that showed guts," he posted.
Advani also used the opportunity to slam the ManmohanSingh government for the various scams.
"By all evaluations the Manmohan Singh Government ispassing through the worst crisis of its six and a half yeartenure. The spectrum scam, the Commonwealth Games scam and theDefence land scam of Mumbai have come all together in a manneras to make the common man feel that many in the governmenttoday are not just making money on the sly, but they arebrazenly looting the country," he noted.
