Newly-married couple commits suicide

Kaithal (Haryana), Jan 16 (PTI) A newly-married couplehave allegedly committed suicide by consuming some poisonoussubstance in Arjun Nagar locality here, police said today.

The couple consumed some poisonous substance yesterdayand were rushed to the civil hospital, where the two weredeclared brought dead, police added.

Bittu alias Gurinder (21) had married Namrata, a residentof Saketri near Chandigarh at Mansa Devi temple in Panchkulafew days back, they said, adding, both of them belonged todifferent castes and married against the wishes of theirfamilies.

A suicide note has been left by them saying they wereending their lives voluntarily, police said.

The bodies have been handed over to their relatives andinvestigations are on, they said.
