Mumbai Press Club institutes national awards

Mumbai, Jan 16 (PTI) The Mumbai Press Club hasinstituted annual national awards in sports and crimecategories.

They have been instituted in the memory of veterancricket writer K N Prabhu and crime reporter Pradeep Shinde.

The awards, carrying cash prizes of Rs one lakh and citationin each category, for 2010 would be given at a function hereon February 15.

The winners would be selected by a distinguished panelof three jury members in each category, a press club releasesaid here today.

The winning story in each category will be awarded Rs75,000 and a citation. The next best entry will get prizemoney of Rs 25,000 and a citation in sports and crimecategories, respectively.

Those articles published in newspapers, magazines andwebsites during 2010 are eligible for the contest.

Entries of published articles can be in any languagebut those entries not in English must be accompanied by anEnglish translation, it added.
