CBI arrests Assistant Manager

Patna, Jan 15 (PTI) CBI officers today arrested DeputyManager, Small and Medium Enterprises, Cash Credit Centre ofState Bank of India, Patna Main Branch, Ajay Kumar Sinha, whenaccepting a bribe of Rs 30,000 from Umesh Kumar.

Umesh Kumar, a resident of Kankarbagh here andcomplainant, had recently lodged a complaint with theanti-corruption branch of CBI that he had applied for a loanof Rs 25 lakh for installation of a Rice Polishing Plant underPrime Minister Employment Guarantee Programme (PMERGP),sources said.

For processing favourably the loan application, the SBIofficial demanded bribe of Rs 1.20 lakh and the matter waslater negotiated through a middleman and he finally sought Rs30,000 as first instalment.

After verification, sources said, CBI sleuths trappedSinha when taking the money from Kumar.
