Berhampore-Aska road blockade

Berhampur, Jan 16 (PTI) Vehicular traffic betweenBerhampur and Aska in Orissa was disrupted for about six hourstoday as villagers at Kukudakhandi blocked NationalHighway 217 protesting the death of a woman in a road mishapand demanding adequate compensation to her family.

The deceased was identified as Jhunu Jena (38) ofBaulajhari, near Kukudakhandi, police said.

She died when a vehicle crushed her thismorning, police said. The villagers staged road blockadeputting her body on the highway and demanded compensation tothe family of the deceased.

"After discussion with the villagers, they lifted theroad blockade," said sub divisional police officer (Sadar)Gagarin Mohanty.
