Hooghly (WB), Jan 15 (PTI) A car carrying West BengalMinister of State for Information and Cultural AffairsSoumendranath Bera was today attacked allegedly by TrinamoolCongress activists at Sodepur in Hooghly district but heescaped unhurt.
The police said Bera was getting into his car aftercoming out of a polytechnic, earlier inaugurated by thestate''s Technical Education Minister Chakradhar Maikap, whensome members of a procession, taken out by local TrinamoolCongress unit, hit his car with bamboo sticks and lathis.
District police superintendent T Roychowdhury said theminister escaped unhurt but his car was damaged.
The police rushed to the spot and escorted the ministersout of the area.
None was arressted in connection with the incident, theSP said.
CPI-M leader Rabin Deb condemned the incident anddemanded that the attackers be immediately arrested.
