MCD releases Rs 50 lakh more for municipal councillors
New Delhi, Jan 14 (PTI) Giving in to demand fromcorporators, the MCD today released an additional Rs 50 lakhunder municipal councillors'' fund to help them carry outvarious developmental works in their areas.
The civic body had already released Rs 50 lakh each underthe annual fund and with the latest allocation, the amountwill go up to Rs one crore for every councillor, officialssaid.
A total of Rs 136 crore has been released.
The allocation for councillors'' funds should be increasedand corporators should get a fixed salary, chairmen of variousward committees had said on Wednesday.
The demand was raised at a special meeting of the MCDStanding Committee in which chairman of ward committeespresented their budget proposals.
They said developmental works are facing problems due toshortage of money and demanded that the councillors'' fund beincreased to Rs 2.5 crore.
