Ambanis Guj plans mean Maha unsafe for investment: Thackeray

Mumbai, Jan 14 (PTI) Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray hassaid recent announcements by the Ambani brothers about making''huge investments'' in Gujarat gave the message that Mumbai andMaharashtra were not good for industrial investment.

"Mukesh Ambani built a house costing over Rs 4,000 crorein Mumbai but made investments in Gujarat....There is thehouse in Mumbai to get peaceful sleep. A huge investment ismade in Gujarat because there is industrial peace (in thatstate)," Thackeray said in an editorial in party mouthpiece''Saamana''.

At the recent Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors Summit,Mukesh Ambani announced that his Reliance Industries willmake forays into the cement sector by setting up a project inKutch district of Gujarat while Anil Ambani said his Groupwill invest Rs 50,000 crore in Gujarat in the next 5-7 years.

"What investments have the Ambani brothers made inMaharashtra? If they have not done so, it should be seen whythey didn''t invest in this state," he said.

Thackeray lauded Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi,saying he had the ''political will'' to snatch an industrialproject to his state.
