11 pro-Taliban militants killed in northwest Pakistan
Peshawar, Jan 14 (PTI) Eleven pro-Taliban militants,including some foreign fighters, were killed today whensecurity forces shelled rebel positions in the restive Kurramtribal region of northwest Pakistan, officials said.
The army used artillery to target several positions,including one of the biggest militant camps in the region atChinarak town, officials said.
Scores of rebels were injured in the bombardment, theysaid. The casualties could not be independently confirmed.
Officials said troops carried out the shellingfollowing reports of the heavy influx of militants into KurramAgency from Orakzai Agency.
