Modi launches veiled attack on Cong on implementation of MoUs
Gandhinagar, Jan 13 (PTI) In a veiled attack onGujarat Congress, Chief Minister Narendra Modi today said itwould have been better if those in power 15 years ago weremore concerned about school dropout rate in the state thantalking about the MoUs that have not materialised.
"Today, the other states are discussing how toreplicate the Gujarat model of development," Modi said duringthe valedictory session of the 5th Vibrant Gujarat Summit(VGS) that ended here.
"A number of memorandums of understanding (MoUs) weresigned during the summit, but there are those who keep trackof only those MoUs which have not materialised," he said.
"I would like to tell them, if they had thought abouthow many children had dropped out of school 15 years ago, itwould have been better," Modi said.
The BJP leader''s remarks came in the wake of Congressaccusing the Modi Government of corruption and irregularitiesin implementation of MoUs signed during the previous VGSevents.
Leader of Opposition in Assembly Shaktisinh Gohil hadalleged that public money was being spent on VGSs and demandedformation of Joint Legislative Committee (JLC) to probe thedeals signed during the summits.
He had accused the BJP Government of favouring aselect group of industrialists.
