MHA sounds country-wide alert on Makar Sankranti

New Delhi, Jan 13 (PTI) The Home Ministry has sounded acountry-wide terror alert asking states to keep a tight vigilfor Makar Sankantri and other festivals celebrated indifferent parts of India.

In the general advisory, the Home Ministry asked allstates to heighten vigil in crowded places, markets, religiousplaces and all other sensitive installations as terroristgroups might try to strike them during the festival period,sources said.

Security in all metros, including Delhi, has beenstrengthened as authorities believe they continue to bevulnerable.

Additional forces have also been deployed in airports,railway stations, bus terminus and all other sensitive placesto foil any attempt by militants to disturb peace.
