Constable booked on graft charges
Chandigarh, Jan 14 (PTI) A police constable has beencaught red-handed by the Haryana vigilance bureau forallegedly taking bribe in Palwal district, officials saidtoday.
Head constable Daya Lal Jangra, posted at Gad Puri inPalwal district, was allegedly caught accepting a bribe of Rs5000 from Surender Rawat, a resident of Asawati village here.
A case has been registered against the accused todayunder Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, avigilance official said.
He said that a number of officials had been caught inthe vigilance net for similar charges in the last couple ofmonths.
In November 2010, the bureau caught a sub-inspector inBhiwani while allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 4,000.
During the same month, two junior engineers ofPanipat''s district town planning department were caught whileallegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 and Rs 20,000.
