BJP MP says will complain to President Patil against Governor Bhardwaj
Bangalore, Jan 14 (ANI): Blaming Karnataka Governor H R Bhardwaj for the chaos in the state Assembly, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP D B Chandre Gowda has said party MPs from the state would soon petition President Pratibha Patil seeking his recall.
"Raj Bhavan here has become centre of political activity and the Governor, who is expected to be neutral, has indulged in party politics," Gowda told reporters here.
"We would soon lead the delegation to lodge the complaint against Bhardwaj and demanding his recall," he added
He further said the people of Karnataka have voted in favour of BJP and the opposition as well as the Governor should respect the mandate of people.
"We are not happy with the present governor and other part of it is that the people of Karnataka have voted in favour of the ruling party, the BJP by giving 47.5 percent of total votes polled in the last and very recent elections held in zilla parishad and taluk panchayat, that itself is the mandate and that people's mandate is to be respected by the opposition as well as the Governor," said Gowda.
The state assembly session has been continuously called off since Monday after the opposition started shouting for not being allowed to discuss corruption charges against Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa.
On Thursday, the opposition members walked out protesting an assembly panel report that has recommended suspension of 15 opposition legislators for their 'unruly behaviour' in the house in October last year when Yeddyurappa sought a trust vote.
The panel, set up by speaker K.G. Bopaiah, wants eight of these legislators suspended for one year and seven for six months. They are also to be denied entry to the legislature and many facilities enjoyed by a legislator.
Earlier, as soon as the house met, the Congress and the JD-S members tried to stall the proceedings insisting on their adjournment motion to discuss land scam charges against Yeddyurappa and alleged illegal mining by mining magnates and ministers, the Reddy brothers. (ANI)
