Aseemanand's tryst with law continues

Panchkula, Jan 13: Swami Aseemanand, one of the accused in the Samjhauta Express blast case has been sent to judicial remand till Jan 27 by a special Panchkula court. The remand was based on the National Investigation Agency's (NIA) demand for an extension of his custody for further investigations.

The court had earlier prolonged his police custody for 10 more days that ended on Thursday, Jan 12. Aseemanand was arrested for conspiring to massacre many through bomb blasts togeather with right wing activists. He had revealed the names of other RSS leaders who have alleged involvement in the blasts in Ajmer, Hyderabad and Samjhauta Express.

The Maharashtra ATS has also expressed interest in questioning Aseemanand on his role in the Malegaon blasts. Aseemanand has been quoted as saying, "We held a meeting at the Valsad residence of Bharat Bhai (Bharat Riteshwar) in June 2006. We planned to carry out blasts at Muslim places of worship. In the meeting present were Sandeep Dange, Bharat Bhai, Sadhvi Pragya, Sunil Joshi, Lokesh Sharma (arrested for Ajmer dargah blast), Ramji Kalsangra and one Amit. We decided to bomb Malegaon, Ajmer dargah, Mecca Masjid and Samjhauta Express train. Joshi had taken the responsibility of doing reconnaissance of all these places."

Aseemanand had revealed some explosive comments on the involvement of right wing terror on some of the worst terrorist activities India has seen.
