Punjab Govt extends tenure of governance reform commission

Chandigarh, Jan 13 (PTI) The SAD-BJP Government hasextended the term of Punjab Governance Reform Commission forone year as its term had expired on January 8, 2011.

Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal had issued thenecessary orders in this regard, an official spokesperson saidhere.

Badal also approved the extension of one year to theChairman of the Commission, Parmod Kumar on the same terms andconditions as implementation of the Commission''srecommendations were still pending in various departments.

The Commission was initially constituted for two yearsto streamline the functioning of public dealing offices bysuggesting ways to cut short cumbersome procedures in order tobring efficiency and transparency in the administration. PTIVJ
