Provide expenses of President''s kitchen: RTI applicant

New Delhi, Jan 13 (PTI) What is the expenditure of thePresident of India over her meals? The President''s Secretariatwas flummoxed to find such a query in an Right to Informationapplication.

The applicant seeking to know detailed expenditure ofthe First citizen''s kitchen expenses was curtly informed thatsuch information is exempted from disclosure as it ispersonal. His query regarding travels undertaken by her wasdenied on security grounds.

But the enthusiastic applicant did not relent and fileda second appeal with the Central Information Commission.

Chief Information Commissioner Satyananda Mishra, whohimself heard the case, accepted the argument of the PresidentSecretariat''s officials.

The officials told the CIC that they do not maintainrecords of expenditure on the President''s meals as she herselfincurs those charges which are personal information. A pointagreed by Mishra, who allowed them to withhold theinformation.
