Karuna writes to PM seeking action to end firing on fishermen
Chennai, Jan 13 (PTI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MKarunanidhi today sought Prime Minister Manmohan Singh''spersonal intervention for a firm action to put an end to SriLankan Navy''s firing on Indian fishermen.
In a telegram to the Prime Minister, Karunanidhi said theatrocities of Sri Lankan Navy on the fishermen were continuingunabated despite repeated assurances given by the Centre andSri Lankan governments that such incidents would not recur.
Drawing the attention of Prime Minister on the killing ofa fisherman from Nagapattinam who was fishing in the PalkStraits yesterday, Karunanidhi said the incident should betaken up with the Sri Lankan Government for immediate actionagainst those responsible for it.
