Spinning mill workers lay seige to collectorate

Karaikal,Jan 11 (PTI):More than 400 workers of JayaprakashNarayan Cooperative Spinning Mills (JPCOSPIN) here laid siegeto the Collectorate today, demanding settlement of their longstanding demands like wage hike, pay parity with othergovernment departments and Pongal bonus.

Workers alleged that salaries had not been disbrused inthe last two months and that the government had not yet madeany announcement on Pongal bonus.

They called off the agitation after District Collector(in-charge) Abel Rosario and other officials held talks withthem and assured them that their demands would be brought tothe notice of Collector Franklin Laltinkhuma, once he returnsto office from leave.
