Man sets wife ablaze

Madikeri (Karna), Jan 11 (PTI) A 49-year-old manallegedly killed his wife by setting her ablaze following analtercation at Mankya village in Madapur near here today.

Police said an inebriated Chamera Ganesh, hit his39-year-old wife with a hammer, set her ablaze and then simplywatched as she battled for life.

The couple''s children tied up their father with a rope andlocked him inside the house to prevent him from leaving andcarried their unconscious mother to seek medical aid, but thewoman died en route, police said.

Ganesh has been arrested.
