Jammu, Jan 12 (PTI) The Jammu and Kashmir government willhold a meeting on January 27 to select the state''s first ChiefInformation Commissioner and Information Commissioners.
"The three-member appointment committee would meet onJanuary 27 to decide over the CIC and ICs," a senior officialsaid.
The appointment panel comprises Chief Minister OmarAbdullah, Deputy Chief Tara Chand and Leader of OppositionMehbooba Mufti.
The appointment committee meeting was postponed twice inthe past due to Mufti''s boycott of the meet. However, thistime, she has expressed here willingness to attend the meet.
Jammu and Kashmir was the first state to enact the Rightto Information Act in 2004.
Names of chief secretary S S Kapoor and former DGP AshokBhan are doing rounds for the CIC post. Kapoor is due toretire on January 30.
The Omar Abdullah government had last year appointedformer CIC Wajahat Habibullah to the post, however, he did notjoin.
