IO cross-examination in nun rape case from tomorrow
Cuttack, Jan 11 (PTI) Cross examination of keyprosecution witness and the investigating officer (IO) in theKandhamal nun rape case will begin here tomorrow.
Crime branch deputy superinitendent of police DilipMohanty is the IO in the case since the time the departmentwas entrusted to investigate the case in 2008.
The nun of Baliguda Catholic church was allegedly rapedduring the communal riots of August 2008 in the aftermath ofthe murder of VHP leader Swami Laxmananada Saraswati and fourof his disciples on August 23, 2008.
�����The chief examination (examination by prosecutioncounsel) of Mohanty ended on Tuesday in the chamber ofCuttack district sessions judge, who is holding trial in thecase since August 2010 after the case was transferred herefrom a Phulbani court following directions from Orissa HighCourt.
�����Ever since the Cuttack court began trial, crossexamination and deposition of as many as 28 prosecutionwitnesses are over.
