Illegal religious structure demolished in Jangpura
New Delhi, Jan 12 (PTI) An "illegal" religiousstructure was demolishied in south-east Delhi today amid heavypolice presence.
The demolition was carried out by the DelhiDevelopment Authority (DDA) in Jangpura area this morning.
According to Mangej Singh, Deputy Director (DDA), thereligious structure was built illegally on DDA land and wasdemolished after a committee approved it.
"A slum and this structure had come up on DDA land. Wehad cleared the slums earlier but did not touch thestructure as we needed a clearance from the committee lookinginto demolition of such structures," Singh said.
A large number of police was deployed in the localityto prevent any untoward incident.
Traffic was not allowed near the locality where thedemolition took place.
